Overall, I’m impressed.
The TrinoXO Tee is comfortable, verstile, and lives up to what it says it does.

Allbirds TrinoXO™ Tee: First Impressions
On first impressions the Allbirds TrinoXO™ Tee is soft and light.
It’s exactly what you would expect: a simple, flowy tee. I chose the Natural Black color option, because it fits my style. But, if black isn’t your color, it also comes in a variety of colors, including Natural Grey, Natural White, Forest, Orchid, and Sungold.
The material feels like they say it does on the product page: soft and breezy. I’m writing this review after it’s had 10+ wears and several washes. It’s holding up well and hasn’t lost any of the original softness.
If you like minimalist clothes that can be dressed up or down, it’s a perfect option.
Thanks to the light material, it also works well as an exercise top.
During the lockdown this year I’ve been doing regular online dance classes, and have worn the TrinoXO™ Tee for those. Thanks to it being so light and breathable, it’s more comfortable than my regular sportswear from brands like Nike and Adidas.
How the Allbirds TrinoXO™ Tee Fits
The Tee has a relaxed, flowy fit.
It’s relatively wide and short, as you can see on their website. If you like a boxy fit, you’ll be happy.
Lengthwise, it lands right at the top of the hips. Despite that, there’s still just enough length if you prefer to do a French tuck.
In terms of sizing, I’d recommend choosing the same size as you usually wear. In the picture here, I’m wearing a size Medium, and I’m around 5 ft 7.
If you size down there’s potential that it won’t be long enough.

Materials Used in the Allbirds TrinoXO™ Tee
As you would expect from Allbirds, there are some interesting materials used.
The main body of the Tee is made from a combination of TENCEL™ Lyocell, and superfine merino wool, and 5% Chitosan trim.
What’s Chitosan?
It’s a naturally occurring, odor-reducing fiber responsibly extracted from discarded snow crab shells. That means you can wear it multiple times, even on hot days, without worrying about the tee starting to smell. Allbirds source their Chitosan from discarded shells.
How Sustainable Are Allbirds Tees?
Good news: The TrinoXO™ Tee is carbon neutral.
Allbirds achieve this by using a combination of natural, sustainable materials, and balancing the emissions using carbon credits.
Before Allbirds balance the emissions, the carbon footprint starts at 6.3 kg CO2e.
The source of the emissions is broken down by product stage on the tag.
As you can see on the label pictured above:
- Materials: +5.4 kg CO2e
- Use: +2.4 kg CO2e
- End of life: +0.2 kg COE2
Allbirds are a B Corporation, so that’s another plus – your money is going to a company re-investing in creating a more equitable, sustainable society.
Is the TrinoXO™ Tee Worth The Money?
The TrinoXO™ Tee costs $48.
For a simple tee, that’s on the higher end.
But, it’s versatile, breathable, and made from sustainable materials.
You can wear it casually, but I highly recommend it as a top for exercise and fitness classes.
If you’re comfortable spending a little to support a company with a more ethical approach than most, it’s worth it.
Final verdict: I would be happy to pay full price for this tee, and I’d be interested in trying one in the Natural White color in the future.
