I don’t know about you, but I love nothing more than cozying up with my favorite pair of sweatpants and a hoodie, no matter what the weather’s like outside.
So when Colorful Standard asked me if I wanted to try their Organic Cotton sweatpants, I said yes without hesitation.
If you’re unfamiliar with Colorful Standard, they’re an ethical brand creating everyday basics from sustainable materials like GOTS organic cotton in various vibrant colors.
I’ve tested a couple of Colorful Standard pieces in the past like their merino crewneck sweater, sunglasses, and my favorite – the twill shorts – and loved those pieces, so I was excited to try the brand’s loungewear.
The following products are gifted, but all views are my own.
Colorful Standard Sweatpants Review
First Impressions – Packaging
On first impressions, the package arrived quickly, and Colorful Standard made the box from recycled cardboard.
Inside the box were my sweatpants and an oversized hoodie, both in a recyclable protective pouch. Overall the packaging was good, but I think the brand could ship the pieces without the individual pouches.
What materials are the sweatpants?
The sweatpants are made from 100% GOTS organic cotton, dyed from Oeko-tex certified dyes (meaning there are no hazardous amounts of harmful chemicals, unlike conventional dyes).
They are pre-washed before they’re shipped, so the color shouldn’t run in the wash, but I’d make sure to only wash with similar colors initially, as the dye potentially could run when washing.
The outer pants are made from a tight-knit material, with a super soft and cozy 350g brushed cotton inside for added coziness. The inside material almost feels like a soft fleece, but the effect is created by brushing the cotton.
The GOTS organic cotton has a super smooth feeling, and it’s a great eco-friendly alternative to conventional cotton, as organic cotton saves water, energy and is grown without harmful pesticides.
How do the sweatpants fit and feel?
The sweatpants are unisex, and I went for the Cinnamon Brown sweatpants in size M. The brand recommends sizing down in women’s sizes, but I found that my usual size was perfect for sweatpants.
I’m 5’7, and the sweatpants are the perfect length and fit, they’re not too oversized and run to my ankle without being too long and bunching at the bottom. The bottoms have a tie waist that I can easily adjust with the string tie.
If you’re looking for super heavy-duty sweatpants, then I’d say that Colorful Standard sweatpants aren’t for you.
Instead, they’re medium-weight sweat pants, not too bulky or thick so that you can wear them all year round.
The sweatpants also have nice deep pockets for holding belongings or keeping your hands warm.
On the negative side, one drawback I had, was that the anti-pilling fabric did release some small pieces from inside, but this was just as I was wearing it. A tiny cotton thread unraveled on the waistband when I washed the sweatpants.

Colorful Standard has its manufacturing facility in Portugal. Here they create and dye all of their products.

Colorful Standard is known for their vibrant color collections. You can find sweatpants in over thirty colors, from vibrant blues and greens to relaxed greys and nudes.
Colorful Standard’s Sweatpants Review: Overall Rating
Overall I’d give Colorful Standard’s sweatpants an 8/10.
They’re super comfortable and perfect for relaxing. Plus, they’re not too thick and bulky and can be worn all year round. Although these sweatpants were gifted, I’ve since bought another pair from the brand in the soft lavender color – which I love!
What I liked:
✔ Made from GOTS organic fabric which is eco-friendly.
✔ The sweatpants are ethically made in Europe.
✔ Super soft brushed cotton makes them super cozy
What I didn’t like:
❌ If you’re looking for an extra thick pair of sweatpants, these aren’t really for you, as the material is mid-weight.
❌ After their first wash, the stitching came open slightly on my sweat pant waistband. This hasn’t happened to my second pair, however.
Colorful Standard Oversized Hoodie Review
Next up we have the matching Colorful Standard Oversized Hoodie, size M in Cinnamon Brown.
What materials is the hoodie?
Like the sweatpants, Colorful Standards hoodies are made from 350g 100% GOTS organic cotton that’s brushed on the Inside to give a lovely soft feeling.
The hoodie is created from the same knit weave as the pants and features a wide front pocket, cuffed sleeves, and a drawstring hood.
How does the oversized hoodie fit and feel?
I went for the oversize hoodie in M (my usual size), and I can tell you that it is oversized – to the point that I probably wished I’d sized down. However, the brand has a regular slimmer-fitting hoodie option if you don’t like the oversized look.
Overall the hoodie is super comfortable and cozy, perfect for lounging at home. However, I’d say it’s a bit oversized for me, and if I buy another, I will go for the regular fit.
Colorful Standard Hoodie: Overall Rating
Overall I’d give the Colorful Standard hoodie a 7/10. The material and color are great, but the fit is too oversized for me.
What I liked:
✔ Made from GOTS organic cotton
✔ Great color selection
✔ Extremely comfortable
What I didn’t like:
❌ The oversized style personally didn’t suit me.
Wrapping Up: Colorful Standard Review
Like the other Colorful Standard pieces I’ve reviewed, the Colorful Standard Sweatpants are one of my favorites.
The sweatpants aren’t cheap, but they’re made ethically and from organic materials and oeko-tex dyes, so you know they’re good for you and the planet.
I’ve since purchased a second pair myself in the Soft Lavender color and will be wearing them all winter long.
