Organic cotton is a type of cotton grown using methods that are more environmentally friendly than those used compared to conventional cotton. For example, unlike conventional cotton, which is the largest user of fertilizers than any other fiber crop, organic cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides and insecticides. Using synthetic pesticides and insecticides in conventional cotton farming can negatively impact the surrounding ecosystem, including the air, water, and soil. So, instead, organic cotton farmers use natural farming techniques such as crop rotation to manage pests.
In addition, organic cotton farming can also help to conserve natural resources, such as water. Conventional cotton farming can be very water-intensive, and the high usage for irrigation can lead to the depletion of local water sources. On the other hand, organic cotton farming typically involves more efficient water use, as farmers use techniques such as drip irrigation to deliver water directly to the roots of the plants rather than flooding the entire field. In addition, choosing organic cotton in clothing is considered a more environmentally friendly option, saving water, chemicals, and energy.

We hope you’ve discovered a range of new sustainable brands creating ethical and sustainable turtleneck styles.

These versatile organic cotton turtlenecks will be perfect paired with a pair of sustainable denim jeans, a relaxed blazer, and a pair of sustainable sneakers for a chic and sustainable outfit.

  1. making plastic clothes from plastic bottles is NOT eco or human friendly. When washed, the plastic clothes shed tiny plastic particles into the water which ends up in the greater waters of the world. People were not meant to be encased in plastic, it does not breathe.
